The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Samsung India to empower the youth with industry-relevant skills. It will be a part of the government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative that aims to empower the youth with industry-relevant skills in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data and Coding & Programming, in a bid to enhance their employability. The MoU was exchanged by Ken Kang, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, and Abhilasha Gaur, COO, ESSCI.

Govt to launch Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is going to launch Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan that promotes ranking of 131 cities in the country for implementing City Action Plans prepared as part of National Clean Air Programme for reducing air pollution upto 40 percent by 2025-26.
For this survey, 131 cities are categorized into three groups based on population. 4 7 cities are in the first group having population more than 10 lakh.
44 cities are in the second group having population between 3 to 10 lakh. Third group consists of 40 cities having population less than 3 lakh.
Cities are required to do the self-assessment as per the framework provided on the Ministry’s online portal.
This assessment is carried out annually. Cities have to report implementation of activities and measures taken in respect of solid waste and road dust management, management of construction and demolition waste, control of vehicular emissions and industrial pollution.

The US has announced USD 170 million in additional humanitarian assistance for Rohingya inside and outside Myanmar as well as for host communities in Bangladesh.
With this the total US assistance in response to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis has reached nearly USD 1.9 billion since August 201 7 when over 7 .4 lakh Rohingya were forced to flee Myanmar into Bangladesh.
This additional humanitarian assistance includes more than USD 93 million through the State Department and more than USD 77 million through USAID.
With nearly USD 13 8 million for programs specifically in Bangladesh, it provides life-sustaining support to the over 940,000 Rohingya refugees, and 540,000 host community members in Bangladesh.

His predecessor, Dr Balram Bhargava’s extended tenure as director general of ICMR and secretary of the Department of Health Research ended in July.
Bhargava was appointed to the post on April 16, 2018, for four years. The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Raj iv Bahl.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved an additional financial support of Rs 100 crore for a scheme to promote small businesses.
This will help in the smooth operation of the scheme and increase the number of beneficiaries.
Gehlot had proposed a financial package of Rs 150 crore under the ‘Mukhyamantri Laghu Protsahan Yojana’ in the 2022-23 budget to encourage MSMEs and for easy loan access to investors.
Approval of about Rs 58 crore was already given earlier for the scheme.
• Meanwhile, Gehlot also approved a proposal for multiple exemptions to boost local exporters. The reimbursement amount to be received by exporters under the reimbursement scheme for participating in international trade fairs, exhibitions and business service management (BSM) has been increased to 50 per cent from 30 per cent. The period of the scheme has also been extended till March 31, 2025.
Moreover, exporters registered under the Rajasthan Export Promotion Council, who have MSME and IEC code, will be able to benefit from the scheme.
The announcement comes days after Rajasthan’s Industries and Commerce Minister Shakuntala Rawat launched the state’s MSME Policy 2022 to enhance the contribution of MSMEs to the state’s GDP as well as exports. The policy aims at setting up 20,000 new MSME units with a cumulative investment of Rs 10,000 crores and employment generation for 1 lakh people, said a DIPR statement.

Amp Energy India, a producer of renewable energy (RE), has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell RE to Amazon from a 100 MW solar power facility in Rajasthan as part of Amazon’s plans for India.
By the end of 2023, the facility at Bhadia, Rajasthan, will be completely operational. One gigawatt (GW) of utility size projects are also being developed by Amp. 1,13,645 tonnes of hazardous CO2 emissions will be reduced thanks to this solar power facility.

He has around 30 years of varying experience in railroad operations, project management, and marketing. He is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE).
